Do you have a passion for animals? If so, a career as a Veterinary Assistant may be for you. Veterinary Assistants are a vital part of the veterinary healthcare team. The Veterinary Assistant Program is designed to equip students with the practical skills and foundational knowledge necessary to assist veterinarians and veterinary technicians in a clinical, hospital, or animal care setting. The program integrates lecture-based instruction with hands-on laboratory experiences, allowing students to develop proficiency in animal handling, clinical procedures, diagnostic techniques, and veterinary office operations.
This program is ideal for individuals passionate about animal care and veterinary medicine, those seeking entry-level employment in a veterinary clinic, hospital, or animal care facility, students preparing for more advanced veterinary technician or veterinary medicine programs, and career changers looking to transition into the veterinary field.
Students must attend a mandatory orientation, successfully complete each course in sequential order, and fulfill a 100-hour internship to receive a Workforce & Continuing Education Certificate. During the orientation, students will learn about program requirements, expectations, career opportunities, and student responsibilities.
