Pharmacy Technicians are an integral part of the pharmacy team, providing safe and effective care to patients in retail, hospital, compounding, and other health care centers.
Formal education, work experience, and national certification through the Pharmacy Technician Certification board www.ptcb.org allows you to apply for a license to practice in the State of Michigan.
Successful completion of the full program--WKSP-8000, HLTH-8120, HLTH-8119, HLTH-8118, and HLTH-8117, HLTH-8121, HLTH-8015, and HLTH-8104A--is necessary to take the PTCB exam.
Prior to internship placement; students must pass a criminal background check, drug screening, physical exam, health screenings and make application and purchase the Michigan Pharmacy Technician License.
Michigan Pharmacy Technician License allow 4 weeks for processing through the state. Licensing Guide.
Students who place in a hospital internship must also take a Basic Life Support class and some require uniforms at your own expense.
