Medication Aide (MED.AIDE.CP) Information

Michigan has a new opportunity for advancement for Certified Nurse Assistants! CNA’s with a current license and who have at least one-year of current work experience in a long-term care facility are eligible to train at Macomb to become eligible for the State of Michigan Medication Aide competency examination. Successful candidates passing both parts of the competency examination to meet the Michigan License and Regulatory Agency requirements will receive a permit and become a certified Medication Aide (MA-C) in Michigan.
  • Prior to enrolling:
    • Students must take an ACT Work-Keys® reading and math test at their own expense or provide other proof of competency. Free practice tests are available through the ACT center at https://testregistration.org/rsp/Login.do?event=go&realm=20770563 Questions regarding the test can be sent to WAC@macomb.edu.
    • Attest to 1-year recent long-term care employment and active CNA license in good standing
  • Prior to first day of class:  Upload an up-to-date negative TB test
  • Prior to clinical practice: Students must pass the classroom exams, pass the lab practice skills and obtain CPR certification
