Recognition of Prior Training & Experience (RPTE) - 11 Day

Please read:  Must be approved by the Michigan Commission on Law Enforcement Standards (MCOLES) prior to participating in this course. Information on application to MCOLES can be found at: https://www.michigan.gov/mcoles/standard-training/waiver. There is a four-hour online Behavioral Health Emergency Partnership (BHEP) course prerequisite. Instructional modules consist of behavioral health, legal update, first aid, traffic law, response to active violence (RTAV), and the MCOLES firearms course (pistol, shotgun, and rifle). Do not wear red clothing on firearms qualification days; do have a brimmed baseball style cap. Gloves are highly recommended for use during RTAV. The MCOLES licensing exam will be administered on the final day of the course, provided the student has successfully passed the MCOLES firearms course of fire. All firearms, ammunition, belt and holster will be provided by the academy, although students may bring personally owned pistol for use, subject to safety inspection by the Rangemaster. All course information to include BHEP pre-requisite information will be provided in detail upon approval of course attendance.
