Even though no specific MIOSHA standards regulate the use of industrial lasers beyond the employer’s general duty to protect employees from potential injury or illness, this course is designed to give Michigan employers a foundational understanding of the requirements needed to safeguard employees and mitigate laser-related safety and health hazards.
The training reviews common hazards associated with industrial laser applications, laser classifications, nominal hazard zones, responsibilities of the Laser Safety Officer, and requirements for training and machine guarding.
The course also addresses MIOSHA compliance expectations and relevant consensus standards that support effective laser safety management.
