Notice

Please read:  This film is entiled Maria Sabina, mujer espiritu. Join us for an installation of our Mexican Film Festival series! In conjunction with celebrations of Dia de Muertos, and in partnership with Consulado de Mexico en Detroit, the Lorenzo Cultural Center is pleased to screen Mexican films on various dates this season. These programs will also include an opportunity for questions and discussion at the end of the film. This season’s series is a tribute to the Mexican Filmmaker Nicolás Echevarría, whose work has profoundly explored the cultural, historical, and spiritual origins that shape Mexican identity.

This film is a testimony on the rites and techniques of the renowned healer María Sabina, priestess of hallucinogenic mushroom and the most widely known of the Oaxacan shamans. The film will be shown with English subtitles.
